When we had our team meeting months ago to decide on which gift set we would release this September, the answer was easy – a birthday box! September is our co-founder, Meg’s birthday month and we’re all huge fans of our birthdays so it definitely seemed like the best way to celebrate this gift set launch! Now before you ask – wait, isn’t it October – we’ll admit that we launched this one a little later than planned but it’s all good because it means Meg got to extend the birthday celebrations even a little longer!
We’re so excited for you to meet our birthday box, Birthday + Baubles. We think it’s one of our most fun boxes, and we’ve stocked it full with quirky and scrumptious products that are sure to delight on that special day. We think all birthdays should be celebrated so it was a blast finding just the right items for this special set. Here’s what’s in it:
Happy Birthday Bath Bomb by Feeling Smitten – When we discovered this North Carolina-based company, we knew we HAD to include their awesome bath bombs in an upcoming gift set. They literally call themselves a “bath bakery” and we couldn’t think of a better way to describe them. Founded by Courtney, “the Cupcake Commander,” in 2007, Feeling Smitten creates fun, sweet and quirky bath products that are also high quality and made with gentle and good-for-you ingredients! We love their Happy Birthday Bath Bomb because it’s filled with a soothing blend of Epsom salts, sweet fragrance and birthday sprinkles!
Citrine and Hot Pink Sparkle Lollipop by Sweet Caroline Confections – What birthday is complete without a sweet treat? Andrea Caroline, a self-taught “candy artist”, started Sweet Caroline Confections after crafting a sweet treat for her customers (she was making semi-precious jewelry!) and found out that lollipops, and not jewelry, was where it’s at. Based out of a town outside of Denver, CO, Sweet Caroline Confections works with customers all around the world, including bridal gown designer Hayley Paige, Martha Stewart Weddings’ very own Darcy Miller, Chanel and Hermes! We love this lollipop because not only is it beautiful but it’s so delicious! Sweetened citrine and hot pink sugar crystals with a hint of edible gold glitter make this the perfect birthday treat.
Birthday in a Bag by Knot + Bow – Knot + Bow caught our eye when we learned of their Brooklyn-based flagship store offering top-notch cards and gifts. We fell in love with this Birthday in a Bag because it’s the perfect way to send a little birthday celebration when you can’t be there in person. With balloons, candles, confetti and a party horn, this is seriously the best of birthdays in an adorable muslin bag! And of course we fell in love with founder Erin Ozer, who quit her job at Columbia University and turned $200 into a burgeoning Etsy shop and what is now Knot + Bow, a fabulous gift supplies and party company!
Birthday Cake Whipped Soap by Taylor Street Soap Co. – Rachel Wiandt, the founder of Taylor Street Soap Co., started Taylor Street Soap Co. in the basement of her Chicago home, and while she originally envisioned making cupcakes and cookies, the costs and crazy hours turned to soaps. She wanted to create soaps that were good enough to eat! Today, she is making those delicious soaps in her nearby studio (goodbye basement!) but they are still made by hand and use only the highest-quality food grade ingredients. Inspired by their neighboring Little Italy neighborhood, they use olive oil as the main base for all of their soaps! That explains why we love this whipped soap so much… Seriously, this paraben-free, vegan soap smells good, feels good and works amazingly as a great replacement for liquid shower gel. We LOVE that it smells like sweet vanilla cake with frosting and has colorful jojoba bead sprinkles.
Birthday Cocktail Rim Sugar by Dell Cove Spices – This is our first husband-and-wife team and we’re so excited to welcome a guy to the mix! Dell Cove Spices started when Patricia and David were newly married. Patricia had moved to LA for a job but when David had trouble finding work in California, they used cooking (via Skype, three time zones apart!) as a way to connect with each other. As money grew tight and their concoctions were used for holiday gifts for loved ones, they realized their cooking date nights could be their next business! Fast forward to a reunion in Chicago and now Patricia and David are excited to welcome you to their kitchen where they are crafting up delicious treats that they hope will encourage connection, help loved ones share stories and create memories. We can’t say enough about their birthday-themed cocktail sugar crystals – perfect for your morning coffee or those celebratory martinis!
