Tell us your story. How did you get to where you’re at?

I am a Serial Entrepreneur passionate about helping others and pushing the needle forward on causes that affect minorities and women. For as long as I can remember I have always been observant and have always seemed ways I could make any situation I entered better.

Today I am the Founder of The Workroom, a coworking space and ecosystem for all things women, Lady Corporate, a membership community for corporate women and CEO + Founder of Build. Brand. Design, a boutique firm that helps women entrepreneurs take their vision from inception to fruition, offering business strategy branding and design.

When I was a little girl I was what we can call a “pretty geek” we’ll call it. While my parents thought I was engulfed in “barbieland”, I was intensively listening to each and every conversation. The questions that came up for me through observing interactions and overhearing conversations were how and why people were the same or different and in addition what caused them to spend the most time doing the things they do?

A child of an immigrant I decided I wanted to help people find the greatest match professionally for them. I had this crazy theory way before knowing about personality and career assessments that people with different talents and passions should be in different fields.

I started my very first business at the age of 18 writing resumes and from there became a career coach teaching others how to find and create careers they love. This sometimes meant leaving their corporate jobs and opening a business. This was the birth of me becoming a Business Strategist helping women navigate their professions and businesses.

I also offer design services which I joke about all the time because I sort of fell into design and have been in love ever since. Many of my business strategy clients end up needing a website or graphics to build their brand after we build their business. It was in that moment I realized that I not only have a gift to help women create their business but also communicate their vision digitally. I am a Business and Brand Strategist + Designer committed to strategy and consistency as a resource for continued success of my clients.

What is your superpower?

My superpower is building women and businesses together. I have the ability to sit with a client and dig deep into their business within an hour or two and provide deep insight and results.

What are your biggest hopes, goals and dreams?

I hope more than anything to see The Workroom come to fruition and be in multiple locations. I want my daughter and many others to know that as a young girl who will one day become a woman – SHE IS WORTH IT.

What is one of the biggest challenges you’re currently facing when it comes to achieving your biggest hopes, goals and dreams?

My biggest challenge (being totally honest) is women who don’t support the vision of women supporting women. As I am building The Workroom and even in my personal work as a Strategist and a Designer I find that we often question things, we doubt ourselves at times and we are somewhat skeptical about making decisions that advance us. Now this is not true for all women but my hope, what I can’t stop envisioning each and every day, is women create a space for women embracing each other and recycling wealth.

If you could wave a magic wand and change one thing about this world, what would it be and why?

It would be equality for women and minorities, ultimately for all mankind. It just hurts as a woman of color that I am considered one of the least important individuals in this world and when it comes to compensation and access to capital that I face additional challenges than others. I want a better world for my kids and their kids where they can just be and they can just live in true love.

What is one small gesture that someone has done for you in the past that stands out to you and why?

My mom battled with cancer this past year. As I was preparing to be her donor over the summer a number of people simply asked how they can support me. We never know just how those words can change someones day. I want to ask that question each and every day to women, mothers friends and beyond. How can I support you?

What is one small, actionable way that women can stand up and support each other?

We can say yes to investing in each other. We can take action on opportunities and commit to lifting other women up as we climb.

What is the last book you’ve read, TV show you’ve binged or podcast you’ve listened to?

I watch Law and Order Special Victims Unit and Shark Tank religiously. I think I may even need to speak to someone about this. It’s for sure an addiction.

It’s 9 p.m. on a Saturday night – where are you and what are you likely doing?

I’m probably home hanging out with my 2 boys and my partner binge-watching movies and netflix and enjoying whatever leftovers from our family dinner we made earlier.
